GENDER JUSTICE

NAVIGATOR

A free, publicly available, searchable map and directory of organizations and programs doing gender-specific work in Oregon and Native Nations that share geography with Oregon

For best performance, view on a laptop rather than mobile device.

How to use the Gender Justice Navigator

  • Read the tips for the map and directory. Just hover over the “?” Question marks inside the circles to access.

  • To use the directory to search for a specific organization, type in the search box above it titled, “Organization Directory Search”. Be sure to unselect once finished to reset the data

  • If you would like to see what organizations serve a particular county, on the directory side, click the county, on the map side, use the drop down

  • Start with choosing between the following services: Community Education, Community Organizing, Direct Services, Policy Advocacy, or Other an organization provides before using direct services drop down which will go deeper into direct service types. You can select more than 1 at a time.

  • When you use one filter on the map, it will automatically impact the other filters and change the selections to align with the first filter you chose. So if you choose Community Education, the county served will drop down to list only the counties with community education services.

  • If you hit a block then reset your selections!

Why this tool matters: A public, free, searchable database of the gender-focused organizations and programs in our region will support:

  • Connecting funders with potential grantee partners

  • Connecting organizations to peers across the state

  • Connecting potential future staff, board members, and volunteers to values-aligned organizations

  • Supporting faster, more expansive coalition building

  • Facilitating better/more accurate media coverage of gender-related topics

  • Enabling field-organizing, building, and convening efforts

INTERSECT/GJN was proud to collaborate on this project with The Equi Institute, a LGBTQIA2S+ health advocacy organization based in Portland. During the last two years, Equi’s Outreach and Capacity Building Manager, Anna Silberman (they/them) has fostered relationships with queer and trans community organizers in nearly every county, including a statewide survey of LGBTQIA2S+ efforts. Contact Anna via email at annas@equi-institute.org.

INTERSECT and Equi’s share the goal of developing a resilient network of queer and trans community based organizations so we can stay connected and support one another.

The Gender Justice Navigator tool is not intended for use by individuals seeking direct services, while it can be used for this purpose, we want to highlight other providers that can offer more direct support and resources:
